Categories, brands, units & variants
The building blocks every product uses. Set them up before you add products.
Categories#
Where Inventory → Categories
Permissions categories.view categories.create categories.edit categories.delete
| Field | What it does |

| Name | For example Electronics. |
| Parent category | Leave as None — top-level category, or nest it under another category. |
| Description | Optional. |
| Image | PNG or JPG up to 2 MB. Upload to replace the current image, or Remove it. |
| Active status | Inactive categories stay on old records but cannot be picked on new ones. |
The page shows total categories, total products and Stock Worth. Click a status badge to toggle it. A category with sub-categories cannot be deleted until they are removed. Deleting a category never deletes its products.
Brands#
Where Inventory → Brands
Permissions brands.view brands.create brands.edit brands.delete
A brand has a Brand Name and a Description. Use brands to filter products and reports. Status can be toggled from the list.
Units#
Where Inventory → Units
Permissions units.view units.create units.edit units.delete
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name and Short name | For example Kilogram and kg. |
| Code | Optional code. |
| Base unit | Leave as None for a base unit, or pick the unit this one is derived from. |
| Operator and Value | How to convert to the base unit: for example × 12 makes a dozen from a piece. |
| Decimals | Whether quantities may have decimals, for example 1.5 kg. |
Variants#
Where Inventory → Variants
Permissions variants.view variants.create variants.edit variants.delete
Create a Variant type such as Size or Color, then press Add value for each option (for example Large). Variant types can be activated, deactivated, deleted in bulk, exported and imported from CSV. Deleting a type removes all its values.
CSV import for any of these#
Every list in Qorex that has Import CSV shows the required columns in the import window under CSV Format and offers a downloadable template. Importing never saves until you confirm. A complete list of CSV formats is in Import, export & custom fields.
