Getting started
Key concepts
Five ideas explain how Qorex is organised. Read this once and the rest of the guide is easier.
| Concept | What it is | Where to manage it |
|---|---|---|
| Company | The legal business. It owns its products, customers, users, accounts and settings. Qorex runs as a single company by default. The Multi-Company add-on adds more. | Settings → Organisation |
| Brand | A trading brand inside a company. Branches can be assigned to a brand. Deleting a brand unassigns its branches, it never deletes them. | Settings → Brands |
| Branch | A shop, office or site. Users can be limited to certain branches, and reports can be filtered by branch. One branch is marked MAIN. | Settings → Branches |
| Warehouse | A place where stock is held. Each belongs to a branch. Sales, purchases, transfers and counts always name a warehouse. | Inventory → Warehouses |
| Payment account | Where money sits: bank, cash, mobile money, card or other. Every payment, expense and transfer touches one. | Accounting → Payment accounts |
How a sale moves through the system#
- A product is sold from a warehouse. Stock goes down and cost of goods sold is worked out with your costing method (see stock-control).
- The customer pays in full, in part, or on account. Each payment goes to a payment account.
- A journal entry is posted to the ledger using your account mappings, so the books update without extra work.
- Returns and exchanges reverse stock, payment and ledger together.

Permissions in one minute#
Every action is protected by a permission named module.action, for example sales.create. A role is a set of permissions. A user has one role and can be limited to some branches. See users-roles for the full list.
